In Jack's room, I have a beautiful antique rocking chair that was given to me by Mike on our wedding day.
He worked for hours to restore it and to carve our wedding date and initials into it.
I was teased that getting a rocking chair as a wedding present is a bad omen...and I assume it brought just what people were hinting at:
A honeymoon baby (or close to it)
But it has been far from a bad omen.
It is one of my favorite places to sit and I love the view from that rocking chair.
I have rocked jack to sleep, I have rocked myself to sleep, I have spent hours listening to breaths on croupy nights and waiting for coughing fits during his RSV.
I have waited for his tantrums to stop, read hundreds of books, belly laughed as Mike sings one of his bed time songs, and watched as jack drifts off to sleep.
I love that rocking chair, I love whatever "omens" it may have brought with it, and I love the beautiful people around me that make the view so wonderful.
